A. What is the Power Window Regulator all about?

The power window motor is an electrical motor with gears that engage the window regulator. The motor takes the drivers input via a switch and sends a power signal to the motor to move the window up or down. The window regulator transfers power from the window motor to the window glass, moving it up or down. The regulator is made up of two tracks, a thin metal cable, and some plastic pieces that act as guides for the cable. These plastic pieces over time will break causing the metal cable to come loose and the window to fall inside the door. This will require the regulator assembly to be replaced.

B. Installation Instructions

***Power Window Regulator Warning:
This guide pertains to cable operated window regulators.


STEPS:

Position the window regulator inside of the door.Make sure the slide engages with the track and line up the bolts with the holes in the door.Install the hardware holding the window regulator onto the door.Connect the window regulator motor harness.

4a. You may need to temporarily connect the master switch to be able to move the window regulator plate into position.You may need to do this to be able to attach the window glass to the window regulator.
4b. Reconnect all of the electrical connections, then reconnect the battery and test the window before putting the door back together.
