1. How the oxygen sensor works:
Under high temperature conditions, the oxygen concentration difference between the inside and outside of the sensitive element is used to generate a potential difference, and a voltage signal is generated to transmit to the ECU. The ECU dilutes or enriches the mixture according to the theoretical optimum air-to-mixture ratio of 14.7:1 as close as possible.
2. Function of Oxygen sensor:
The function of the oxygen sensor is to measure the information of whether there is excess oxygen in the exhaust gas after combustion of the engine, that is, the oxygen content, and convert the oxygen content into a voltage signal and transmit it to the engine computer so that the engine can achieve closed-loop control with excess air factor as the goal; Ensure that the three-way catalytic converter has the maximum conversion efficiency for the three pollutants of hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOX) in the exhaust gas, and maximizes the conversion and purification of pollutants.
Simply put, the oxygen sensor is a detection tool to detect whether vehicle exhaust emissions exceed the standard.
