What is Shuttle Racking System?

Semi-automated Pallet Shuttle Racking is a system that optimise space and productivity in the warehouse. Its main applications are therefore: Warehouses with high loading and unloading activity, and which therefore require high warehouse productivity.

How does a shuttle system work?

Shuttle vehicles run on rails that are integrated into the racking structure. They can change levels (i.e., ascend and descend) by means of vertical transporters or warehouse lifts typically positioned at the front end of the aisle. This enables them to store and retrieve pallets on several different levels.

Why is the shuttle system necessary?

The shuttle system is required because the mitochondrial inner membrane is impermeable to NADH, the primary reducing equivalent of the electron transport chain. To circumvent this, malate carries the reducing equivalents across the membrane.
